The best of merino
An extra-fine 17-micron wool, carefully selected for its exceptional softness and unrivaled natural properties.
And because transparency is as important as it is, our wool is guaranteed mulesing-free and Responsible Wool Standard certified.
Latest generation Cordura
To ensure exceptional durability, we used a high-end polyamide: Cordura. This material is a textile innovation renowned for its resistance to abrasion and tearing.
On this T-shirt we use two types of Cordura:
- A staple fiber (like merino), which can be spun with wool
- A continuous fiber (filament), used to wrap and protect the whole
A twisted heart
It all starts with a tight twist between merino wool and a staple Cordura fiber.
A compact and homogeneous blend that forms a semi-finished strand much stronger than a 100% wool yarn.
This interwoven core is 73% Merino Wool - 27% Cordura. That's already solid. But we're going even further.
An indestructible outer sheath
Around this semi-finished strand, our Südwolle spinner winds continuous filaments of Cordura using a complex process.
This is what gives the wire extreme strength, thanks to its robust sheath.
Final composition:
52% extrafine merino wool – 19% staple Cordura – 29% continuous filament Cordura
