For the love of wool
Using wool as insulation has been obvious. Wool is a fiber that offers unsurpassed breathability, comfortable warmth and a constant body climate, regardless of activity levels or changing weather conditions. This makes wool the perfect insulation for everyday life and travel. We've built this piece by sandwiching this insulator between a gorgeous scraped recycled wool and a premium extrafine merino wool jersey.
Casentino recycled wool
Forget winter jackets in plain materials and step up a gear with a more elegant look. We've chosen a superb quality recycled wool from Italian weaver Manteco. 70% Recycled wool - 30% Nylon 260 gsm Another special feature of this outer fabric is the brushed finish known as the Casentino effect. This particular, very luminous finish gives softness and a luxurious look to this top-of-the-range piece.
High-performance wool insulation
We chose to stuff this jacket with Lavalan® insulation: a new functional wool insulation made exclusively from natural, renewable raw materials, virgin wool and corn. The quilting weight used for this down jacket is 250gsm to offer the best weight/warmth/consumption ratio: - Thermo-regulating for indoor and outdoor comfort - Compact and highly compressible - Insulates against the cold, even when wet - Optimized for cool-weather activity - Machine washable
From European farms
The wool for Lavalan® comes only from European countries with the highest standards of quality and animal welfare. No sheep are mistreated either during rearing or shearing. Sheep farmers deliver their freshly shorn wool to collection points, where it is sorted according to color and quality and pressed into bales. The wool is then washed in traditional factories in Belgium and the UK. Plant residues, sheep dung and lanolin are removed to obtain a clean, soft and homogeneous wool filling. Then it's all off to Germany, where some 60 experienced employees produce the insulation.
An exceptional lining
The lining is usually made of some kind of viscose or cotton. We have chosen the luxury of a 100% merino wool extrafine knit. Never before seen on a lining. You'll be wrapped up in softness and enjoy the full performance of this wool jersey.
